On Dec. 2, 2025, a Samaritan’s Purse plane flown by pilot Jim Streit was hijacked over Africa by a masked gunman. He pointed a gun in Jim’s face and demanded that he fly him to the country of Chad or he would kill him.
Jim was now faced with a choice—either let fear take over or trust Jesus with his life. The Lord brought Scriptures to Jim’s mind and reminded him that there is power in the Name of Jesus.

After sharing the Gospel with the hijacker, Jim prayed for him and told him they would need to land in South Sudan to refuel before going on to Chad. But the hijacker remained despondent.
Meanwhile, Jim’s wife and others prayed furiously for a peaceful resolution to the harrowing situation. When the plane landed in South Sudan, Jim suddenly found himself and the plane surrounded by armed military.
