We Help Believers Suffering for Their Faith
Samaritan’s Purse provides support to persecuted Christians in the Middle East, Africa, and other regions of the world.
The modern persecution of Christians worldwide is unprecedented in its scope. There are now more persecuted believers in the world than at any other time in history. As their lives are threatened because they follow Jesus Christ, Samaritan’s Purse is coming alongside these faithful witnesses to bring relief during their distress.
In 2014, ISIS made convert-or-die threats to Christians on the Nineveh Plains of Iraq as they sought to establish an Islamic State. These followers of Jesus fled for their lives, leaving their homes to be looted, burned, and destroyed in the terror. Since 2017, Samaritan’s Purse has restored more than 900 of these homes, allowing Christians to return to the cities where their families have lived for generations.
In addition to assisting individuals and families, we are also helping entire churches. After a satirical cartoon of Mohammed was published in a French magazine, mobs burned more than 70 churches in Niger, West Africa. Undaunted, believers gathered to worship amid the ashes. Samaritan’s Purse soon came alongside these faithful Christians to rebuild or renovate dozens of their churches.
“The fact that Samaritan’s Purse is working alongside with us, we feel like we’re not alone,” Pastor Jacques Houeto said.
Please stand with us as we support suffering members of the body of Christ. “For the needy shall not always be forgotten” (Psalm 9:18a, NKJV).
