Missionaries started Kapsowar Hospital as a small dispensary, nearly 80 years ago. Today, the 126-bed hospital provides medical care for more than 300,000 people who live in rural villages in the Cherangani Hills and Kerio Valley in northwestern Kenya. Just over the ridge I could see a billowing cloud of white smoke streaming upward off the hilly, arid region of central Madagascar.
