Cambodia
Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia next to Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Buddhist temples can be seen across the landscape, indicative of the religious beliefs of the majority of its people. While the country was controlled by the Khmer Rouge in the late 1970s, over 1.5 million people were killed by the communist guerilla movement, including much of the educated class. The nation still suffers from this traumatic loss today. The number of Christians is growing and that brings hope. In 2000, Samaritan’s Purse began hosting Operation Christmas Child outreach events in Cambodia and later started offering our follow-up discipleship course, The Greatest Journey, to boys and girls here in 2012.
