Mauritius

Mauritius is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean just east of Madagascar. It is known for its beautiful beaches and once being the habitat of the dodo—a large, now-extinct bird. Samaritan’s Purse began hosting outreach events for the children of Mauritius in 2009 and launched our follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, in the country in 2011.

The Greatest Journey

Taught by trained local teachers, this 12-lesson discipleship program shows children how to follow Christ and share Him with others. As boys and girls share the Scripture stories they learn in class, their friends and family come to faith—growing churches, starting new congregations, and transforming communities by the power of the Gospel.
